Deep Purple

Come to the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park to see 60s hard rock band Deep Purple, September 6, and stay at the nearby and affordable Motel 6 Chicago Hotel!

British band Deep Purple is considered the forerunner of heavy metal music. At its inception, the band’s claim to fame was being very loud and not much else. Their first album “Shades of Purple,” received modest recognition.

Deep purple had changed personnel by the time they had a hit album. “Machine Head,” with its smash hit “Smoke on the Water.” “Highway Star” and “Space Truckin’” would also prove to be big hits. The band broke up in 1976 and reformed in the 80s. This year’s album, “Infinite,” is the band’s 20th album. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.

“With almost no exceptions, every hard rock band in the last 40 years, including mine, traces its lineage directly back to Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. I am somewhat bewildered that they are so late in getting in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.” Lars Ulrich
