Music Duo Switchback
Come to the Nathan Manilow Theatre to see the incredible music group Switchback March 5 and stay at the nearby and affordable Motel 6 Chicago Hotel at Tinley Park!
Switchback is the award-winning duo of Brian Fitzgerald and Martin McCormack who draw on traditional Celtic music and original Americana songs that reflect their Irish heritage and Midwestern roots. Playing an exciting mix of mandolin, guitar, and bass, their harmonies have won them comparisons to famous duos, such as the Louvin Brothers, Everly Brothers, & Simon and Garfunkel.
Don your kilts! American duo Switchback blends American and Celtic styles, and the result is great music! Brian Fitzgerald studied mandolin with the legendary Jethro Burns (Homer and Jethro), and Martin McCormick, of the “Star Search” winning band Beyond Blue, were brought together as part of the Irish band of Terrance Teahan.
Switchback was born in 1993, and they hit the charts running. Their new music was described as “breathtaking music for your ears.” They were an immediate success, playing the opening act for The Moody Blues, Leon Russell, Lee Greenwood, John Hartford, among others. Their first album, “Ain’t Going Back,” was a huge success, with Chevrolet buying the rights to one of the songs. Their new album, “The Hibernian Mass,” is literally a Catholic mass inspired by Switchback’s visit to the island in Ireland where St. Patrick built his first church in the fifteenth century.
